Stargazing in Exmoor, Minehead's a great base!
Exmoor Dark Sky Reserve is proud of being the first dark sky reserve in Europe. Much of the region is free from light pollution and it rightly claims to have some of the darkest skies in the country.
Going stargazing in Exmoor Dark Sky Reserve will reward you with amazing views of the cosmos. The sky is filled with many more stars than you would normally see from a town or city. The glow of the Milky Way is easily spotted on dark moonless nights. |

Telescopes can be hired from the 3 Exmoor National Park (ENP) Centres (Dulverton, Dunster and Lynmouth) which you then take out yourself onto Exmoor to see the stars. £25.00 cost of hire for a night, £10.00 cost for any additional nights, £100 deposit (which is refunded). ENP are currently implementing a 72 hour period between hire in order to clean and isolate the equipment due to the Corona Virus. Contact your nearest Centre to book in advance. |
